This is the most important part of the journey! Brittany always says: Let the food guide you to the things that need to be healed.
If you are super craving a particular food - then use the Craving technique (Ball of Light - sometimes abbreviated to BOL).
If you catch yourself eating mindlessly, going back for more and more, eating uncontrollably - then that’s the time to use the Emotional Eating technique (Push the Food Away - often abbreviated to PTFA). Also known as the binge eliminator.
We are so skilled at pushing down unwanted and uncomfortable emotions and memories with food that we usually (before learning how to tap on this) don’t even notice we are in a heightened emotional state.
Eating is a very successful coping strategy that our subconscious mind uses to keep us safe! Therefore, if we use food to cope, the memory and emotion get pushed back down into unconscious territory. No way to find them later when you think about why you binged.
So if you simply make a list of all unpleasant memories and tap your way through them (this is known as ‘personal peace procedure’ in the EFT world), you will likely miss those important unconscious events you’re stuffing down with food!
The most powerful approach is to tap when the desire to eat strikes. However, Brittany knows how difficult this can be so you are asked to commit to doing this 50% of the time this happens. Let one slide, but then take the plunge and use the technique the next time.
Our favorite foods are usually reliable triggers, so it is possible to schedule your tapping time, both for Cravings and for Push-the-Food-Away.
Remember to give yourself time in between a deep clearing session to let it all settle in.
